How to Import Large Text Files (> 64k rows) into Excel 2000

Can anyone point me to help on the importation of very large text files into
Excel 2000? I need to import text files with about 250k records!

not going to happen.
this is better done in access.
you might try to import it into word and cut it down by
pasting half or more to a second or more word file(s).
but the 65536 row limit is fixed in excel. period.

Even if you break it up into separate worksheets within a workbook, XL is
extremely slow when you have that much data. While database software, such
as Access, handles this quantity of data much better.
