any object in powerpoint can be assigned an "action"

just right click the object (e.g. a box, or text) and choose "action
settings"

some common actions are

next slide
previous slide
slide 42
last slide
first slide
exit / quit
play a sound

After inserting the action button, right click on the action button, click
Action settings.
Click "Hyperlink to:" and select "Slide...".
Select the slide you want to link to and click OK. Does that help?
