How to insert edrawing?

I have the 2003 version of powerpoint but when I insert an object, I don't
get the option of inserting an edrawing. I have seen edrawings inserted in
the 2000 version. Is there a way to add edrawings to the list of objects or
insert it another way?

How about starting with some basics, what is an edrawing and why is it
different than other images? (Sorry, I am only conversant on a couple
thousand applications, can't get to all of them. <g>)

An edrawing is a a way to look at a solidworks drawing without having a
solidworks license. It allowes you to look at the drawing of a part and the
model of the part.

Hmmm, that is clear as mud. <g> Are you saying it's an image format
generated by something called "solidworks" or are you saying something else?
What is the file extension?

Solidworks is a Cadd system used to do 3d modeling for mechanical design.
When you save a solidworks file as a edrawing, it is similiar to saving a
PDF. A solidworks license cost thousands of dollars but edrawing can be
downloaded for free so customers of a manufacturing company can look at a
designers work in an edrawing instead of paying for the solidworks license.
The file extension for edrawing is .EDRW

Well then it seems to me it is going to require a graphics filter acceptable
to PowerPoint. I would be surprised if a company charging thousands of
dollars for their software is going to give away a graphics filter for it.

You might try inserting the drawing as an object and that will fire the
application associated with the file extension, but I doubt there is anyway
to display it directly in PowerPoint. Does your viewing package provide for
exporting the image in a more standard format?
