How to install Measurement Smart Tag ? It not recognised by XP

W

Ward208

upon updating Office via the Updates website, I noticed there was a converter
for all measurements called " Microsoft Measurement Smart Tag". I downloaded
it, and ran the file but can't seem to make it work. It seems to have a TLB
file which is not recognised by Windows which is a nuisance as I would love
to have this quick measurement converter at my fingertips. Can anyone help ?

Hi Ward,

I'm not quite sure what you're seeing related to the TLB file.
If, after installing the measurement converter Smart Tag from

http://microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=F67FC42C-5F41-4C3F-9D5A-71354471DC32

I you start Word and type in
24 cm
does the purple Smart Tag 'squiggle' appear under that when you type enter?

If not, check the settings for Smart Tags in Tools=>Autocorrect Options to turn on the 'mark text' and 'show option button' choices
then recheck the document.

Bob thank you for your quick reply ; however, it still doesn't work. I've
uninstalled it and reinstalled it, yet I don't get the squiggly mark under 24
cm in word. I also cannot see the new software itemised in Smart Tags
contained within Autocorrect Options under 'Tools' in Word. Could it be
because I have Word 2003 and not 200 ?

Hi Mona,

In Word 2003, under Tools=>Options=>Security=>[Macro Security] check to see what your security level is set at and what your Trusted
sources are. The Smart Tag addins won't be available if you're on 'very high', for example, if you haven't accepted Microsoft as a
trusted source while being on, for example, the High setting when starting Word.

HI Bob
I am on 'medium' in security settings in Macro Security and under 'Trusted
Publishers' the box which refers to " Trust all installed add-ins and
templates) is ticked.
It seems the plot thickens !
Thank you very much for your help thus far.
