I can't help but wonder how old the OP is and whether Mom and Dad are
exercising their right as parents and trying to keep him/her out of harm's
way.

yeh, i had also considered
the same concern.

but on the other hand, one cannot rely
on the methodology utilized because
someone uses simplistic grammar and
spelling errors. (my postings are
no better at times!)

for me the o.p was smart enough to find
this newsgroup and smart enough
to create a user account,
i.e., [email protected]

also, i think that at the time of
creating a profile, the idea of
having a net passport or hotmail
account is provided on the sign up
page as well.

if i'm not mistaken, doesn't one
have to be at least 18 to create and
log into these newsgroups?

i think this was a factor i remember
because of the occasional adult language used by
unprofessional persons- raising an
eyebrow.

I'm not sure about the age restriction, however, since when does that stop
anyone? Online you can be any age you want. Online I'm a 19-year old willowy
blonde bombshell. ;-)

A password will prevent casual viewing of email but a determined party (read Parent) can crack the password quite easily. Just google password cracker and see how many hits there are.

Nothing, absolutely nothing. Email is NOT private, learn that,
remember that and write accordingly. Whatever you say in email can be
read by others and not just your family members!
