How to keep Powerpoint animations when converting to PDF format?

Is there ANYWAY of keeping the powerpoint animation effects after convertion
to PDF?

My ppt was created in Powerpoint 2003, & then converted to PDF (conversion
setting set on "standard") directly in powerpoint. When I open the PDF file
in Acrobat 7.0 Professional, while the slide transitions were maintained, all
the animations (e.g. showing shapes on same chart in sequence or on click)
were all gone.

After many days of desperate search on web, the general opinion is that PDF
just doesn't support animation). However, my boss insists she has seen many
presentations in PDF formats with all the same animations & effects as
Powerpoint. Thus I'm totally lost on how to proceed.

Pls help & share with me your expert opinions!!

PDF does not maintain animation.

Perhaps your boss saw PDFs of presentations that used individual slides to
fake the animations? (Rather like a "flip book.")

Or perhaps she saw HTML presentation? These open in browser windows. PDFs
can also open in browser windows, so I can see how those could be easily
confused.
