How to make connectors available in Word 2003, on the drawing took

Hello!
How to make connectors available in Word 2003, on the drawing tookbar? I
select a background image before trying to select a connector. My OS is WinXP.

Connectors are only active when you're in the Drawing Canvas. To
enable the Drawing Canvas, either click on Tools | Options |
General | check the "Automatically create drawing canvas when
inserting AutoShapes" box | OK, or click on Insert | Picture |
New Drawing.

The Tools | Options | General | check the "Automatically create drawing
canvas when inserting AutoShapes" had been enabled.
Clicking on Insert | Picture | New Drawing helped!
