How to make document open on the last line?

Whenever I open a document on which I am working, Word opens with the cursor
at the top of the first page. How can I make it open at the last line where
I last left off? Or is there at least a shortcut key that will let me hop
rapidly to the last line?

Rick,

Shift F5. Takes you to the last edit point.

You could record this action in a macro and place the
recorded code in a AutoOpen macro if you wanted it to
automatically go to the last edit point when the document
opens.

Ctrl+End takes you to the end of the document. As Greg points out, Shift+F5
takes you to the last edit point; often this will be the end of the
document, but not always.

Thanks to you both - I will record it into a macro.

Unless you put the macro in the template rather than the document, you'll
have to answer a macro warning message before it will run. It's usually
easier just to press Ctrl+End or Shift+F5.

I turned off macro-warning ages ago. I use them in a lot of documents - too
annoying to get nanny-messages all the time!

Thanks for the help - could you please also look at my question about
scrolling immediately below? That one I find much more irritating than this
one.
