How to make timesheets to be routed to project managers for approv

Rodrigo Souza

Hi all!

I need some help with the timesheet approval process.
My company's core busines is to sell IT Projects. We have many resources
working at several projects at the same time. So when they open their
timesheet, they can see many projects and tasks to enter time.

The issue is: in our company, the best people to approve timesheets are the
project managers as they have visibility of the work done. But how can I make
the project managers to be the timesheet approvers?

Any help is very appreciated.

In the future, please post your Project Server questions in the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is closing
down. To answer your question, I am assuming you are using Project Server
2002 or 2003. To approve task updates, one of your PM's must become the
Manager of each project. This is because Project Server routes all task
updates to the Manager of the project. Refer to the following FAQ for the
steps to become the Manager of a project:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/changeprojmgr.htm

Hope this helps.

Tks for your reply Dave.

I am using Project 2007 with resources reporting time in the timesheet.
When resources submmit they timesheet, is it possible to send tasks for
different project managers for their approval?

First of all, please review the FAQ I referenced, as I updated it this
afternoon to include Project Server 2007 information. To answer your
question, each task assignment can have only one Status Manager. This means
that each task update can only be approved by one project manager. Hope
this helps.
