how to make wordwrap behave?

Excel's wordwrap is ANNOYING. Why does it wrap text at such idiotic places in text (before commas, outside syllables, etc)?

Hmmm...

In XL04, I can't force a wrap before a comma.

I'm pretty sure that XL doesn't have a syllabification dictionary, since
it's a spreadsheet, not a word processor, so I wouldn't necessarily
expect it to split words at the syllables.

Maybe it's fixed in Excel 2004 but Excel 2003 definitely wraps before commas--but not always; depends on the column width.

And it really pisses me off when PowerPoint won't properly calculate my
mortgage.

It's getting worse. Now excel removes .s and forces lowercase text <g>

Seriously, I can't reproduce your error in Excel 2003 at all. Sure there are
no leading spaces in front of your commas ?
