After having installed MSOffice 2003 there is a new folder D:\MSOCache.
How can I move safely this folder to another location e.g. C:\tmp ?

Is there a setting in MSOffice/MSWord to inform MSOffice about the new
location?

Ken

You can move it. However do not just move the folder, Use the tool
Microsoft provides here {at bottom}:

There is a tool for moving the MSOCache folder. However, this is not a
temporary folder so moving to C:\ is IMO a good idea. If you want to get
rid of the folder, there is a setting in Disk Cleanup to properly do so.
