How to obtain office software

Rach

My computer crashed so my son replaced harddrive but did not reinstall Office
software and I don't have the cd anymore. I looked in my system and it now
says "registered to" none on the first line and none on the second line but
it still has a a series of numbers on the third line. Is that my product
number? And what do I do with these numbers to get Office downloaded on to
my laptop. I have Windows XP professional edition if that is any help.

No, that is the Windows Product ID which identifies the version of Windows
to the system.

The version of Windows installed on the system is immaterial - Office is not
available for download legally anywhere (and I bet you're one of those who
doesn't know the difference between downloading and installing - hint: you
don't download from a program installation CD - you download from the
internet and, in the case of commercial applications, that's illegal).

If you need Office, you will need to purchase it.

If you no longer have the cd you cannot install Office, nor could you copy
Office files from the old hd, if available.
Depending how you obtained Office you may be able to replace the media.
If Office was supplied with pc, contact pc supplier
If Office was a retail version contact MS,

The registration details you see are nothing to do with Office.

more of these,at a lot cheaper cost.good luck.
