how to open a .ppt file not in slide show mode but show file download box

Hello All,

I want the users to open(download) a .ppt file using the "file
download.." dialog box.

But my .ppt file always open in Slide show mode which i dont want.

Can someone please help me how to download a .ppt file using "File
download.." dialog box? I want this to work in both IE and Netscape. I
am hearing that I should change the IIS settings..Is it true?

OR

The .ppt file can open in a new window but not in a slide show mode.
It should open just like a PDF file in a new window.

Can someone help me?

The ability for a .ppt file to open as a slideshow in IE is dependent on the
plugins loaded (ie. some computers will open as a show, some will ask to
download file). If I know it is a file I want people to download I compress
it (.zip) and then upload to server.
