How to overcome errore message send an e-mailndows or programs?

I send a lot of e-mails. When sending one this morning, i received the
following: "out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or
programs and try again." Outlook was the only program I had running. I know
I have hard disk to spare and believe I have ample RAM

What to do?
