how to prevent database from copy and past?

G

Greeting,

Is there any way to prevent database on LAN form copy and past?

thanks.

Are you referring to copy and pasting from one field to another or copy and
pasting the database from one folder to another?

Depending upon your version, you can hide the local database window so that
no one can open it. Then put the database back-end on a hidden share. If you
haven't split your database into the program which runs from each
workstation, linked to the data tables on the server, do so immediately.
Front-ends should NEVER be shared from a server.

move to SQL Server

And how will that help, Aaron? Just curious; if the user can see the data on
the screen then they can (using screen capture if nothing else) capture it,
can they not?

because then-- get this-- then they can't copy the database.

you're a liar.

Splitting into a front end / back end with linked tables is no longer
the reccomended way.

sorry

A

aaron.kempf

bullshit you fucking liar!!! Can you even link tables in SQL Server?

Jesus fucking christ that has got to be the stupidest fucking thing
I've ever heard of in my whole fucking life.
Just how are you planning on making a linked front end / back end in
SQL Server?

SQL Server is a magical land.. where you don't need to deal with '12
different copies of the same frontend'.

Linked tables is not the ONLY way.
Linked tables is not the BEST way.

THE _ONLY_ WAY TO SUPPORT MULTIPLE USERS IS TO MOVE TO SQL SERVER.
Anyone that tells you otherwise is a fat old retard that is stuck
banging their DAO bullshit up their ASS.

DAO is a fucking _CON_.

Any library that is --TOO BUGGY TO CLEAN UP AFTER ITSELF-- Is _NOT_
reliable enough for real world usage.

simply typing 'why should I upsize from Access to SQL Server' will
give you millions of reasons.

It is the same price
It is easier to use
It is faster, more reliable, more powerful; more scalable.

What is the point of Access _DATABASES_ anyway you fucking flaming
dipshit?

Why don't you bother checking the facts before you barge in and say we
should be using linked SQL Server databases?

I mean seriously

WHERE DO YOU GET OFF WITH THE MIS-INFORMATION YOU FLAMING FUCKING
STUPID FUCKING FAGGOT?
WHERE DO YOU GET OFF WITH THE MIS-INFORMATION YOU FLAMING FUCKING
STUPID FUCKING FAGGOT?
WHERE DO YOU GET OFF WITH THE MIS-INFORMATION YOU FLAMING FUCKING
STUPID FUCKING FAGGOT?
WHERE DO YOU GET OFF WITH THE MIS-INFORMATION YOU FLAMING FUCKING
STUPID FUCKING FAGGOT?
WHERE DO YOU GET OFF WITH THE MIS-INFORMATION YOU FLAMING FUCKING
STUPID FUCKING FAGGOT?

I don't know what you're talking about.

I'll say anything I want-- to whoever I want.
And when 20 people gang up on me and attack me?

I WILL KEEP ON TRYING HARDER.

You guys cannot bully me into submission.

SORRY

Your silly database solutions-- they aren't reliable enough for a half
dozen users and 25 mb of data.
Don't blame it on the network; the users-- the design.

Access Databases aren't reliable enough for business use.
I spent a good half of my career-- upsizing Access databases to SQL
Server.

Why would I be able to do that-- if it wasn't better?

Do you _REALLY_ think that I'm the only person out there using SQL
Server? Most of the times-- the Access people outgrow Access. and
they move to SQL Server.

Personally; it makes me sad to see people work _WAY_ too hard..
Getting stuck making $12/hour.

I will not be bullied into submission.

Aaron,

I think you know perfectly well what Rick is talking about.

Aaron doesn't know it, but probably about half the high-profile
posters in the microsoft.public.access.* hierarchy know what Rick is
talking about, too.
Including me?

Heh.

A

aaron.kempf

Good for you!!!

I've got nothing too hide.
I'm a victim of the bullies in this newsgroup.

They took shit offline into the real world.

And I will no longer be bullied into submission.

Sorry ;)

John has provided endless help on this forum. You are out of line insulting
anybody, but it is especially absurd when it is directed at somebody with a
demonstrated depth of knowledge and experience whose responses are delivered
with unfailing courtesy, and coming from somebody who provides little if any
specific help in this forum or in the SQL forums ("move to SQL server" is no
more specifc than "develop a database").
The OPs question was vague at best, but could have been taken to be about
preventing confidential data displayed on the screen from being captured.
Nobody disputes that SQL server is more secure.
Go ahead, Aaron, be predictable in your reply to this posting.

bullshit.

John attacks me. Spewing false information. He attempted to attack
my credibility-- because he is too stupid to learn a real database.

John-- Name one thing I've said that is wrong about SQL Server.
or STFU about how I'm wrong and stupid.

Screw you, Bruce. Honestly.

Warning

David Fenton makes inaccurate and incorrect statements.

I would reccomend finding a certified SQL Server DBA or Developer in
order to fit your database needs.

This 'D A V I D F E N T O N' kid learned his databases on the back of
a cracker jacks box

Hi David,
Aaron doesn't know it, but probably about half the high-profile
posters in the microsoft.public.access.* hierarchy know what Rick is
talking about, too.

All of the Access MVPs certainly know. I'm not so sure about other
high-profile posters in these groups. But now they will. Sorry Aaron, but if
you had simply learned to keep your mouth shut, I would not have told the
world about this. You've earned it, since you've been acting like such a
child.

On Saturday, June 30, 2007, Aaron was taken down by the Tacoma Police Dept.
SWAT Team after earlier making public threats to my safety in the newsgroups.
He ended up pleading guilty to the crime of cyberstalking, which the
Prosecutor later decided to pursue as a misdemeanor instead of a felony. On
Dec. 7, 2007, the judge handed down the following sentence:

1.) Pay $500 court costs
2.) 24 months probation
3.) He must use his name in any electronic postings
--no aliases allowed.
4.) Complete an anger management session.
5.) Perform 136 hours of community service.

Aaron has this nagging little detail called a Restraining Order. If he
violates this, it's an automatic felony. Got that Aaron?

That was predictable, just as I suggested. John asked how SQL server would
prevent a screen capture. That is not even close to an attack, and since it
is a question it provides no information, false or otherwise.
I am starting to agree with the people who say they feel sorry for you.
From here it looks as if you are coming completely unglued. I will continue
to correct any false or misleading statements you make, but I will not try
to engage in dialog with you, as it is starting to feel like an exercise in
cruelty. Get some help, man. Honestly.
Peace.
