How to prevent outlook express from automatically launching IE?

Hello all. I sometime receive junk mail that has embeded javascript to
launch a URL in internet explorer. I would like to find a way to
prevent this from occuring, however I do NOT want to simply disable
all active scripting in Internet Explorer. I'm using IE6 and OE6 in
WinXP. Any ideas?

Sincerely,
Paul Rubin

The best option for that is to not to open the junk email. OE and IE6 are closely related. Most spam relies on the fact you have a mail client and browser related. Turn off the preview pane so you don't load the message (this will also reduce over time the number of junk emails you receive). If you want to look at the junk email, it will open whatever browser you have on your compute

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I would like to keep the preview
pane opened. Does anyone have a suggestion for disabling javascript
ONLY for Outlook Express, and NOT for Internet Explorer?

Thanks for your reply. It's close to what I need, however it seems
just a bit too cumbersome to have to do this manually. I receive
hundreds of important email messages each day, and I'm reading them
all day long. If you can program it to only disable active scripting
for OE, and NOT for IE, that's a program that would work.

Please let me know,
Sincerely,

Unfortunately the program cannot disable scripting for Outlook Express
and not Internet Explorer. However, it can be used to automatically
disable scripting when OE is opened, and re-enable it when OE is
closed. You could accomplish this using ASFD's command-line options
and a simple batch file. You may try this with the free demo version
of Active Scripting Fast Disable, found at:

Thank you, I leave OE running all the time, so that doesn't work
either. Thanks for trying though. I think if you go to OE Options ->
Security and check the 'Restricted Site Zones' radio box, it might do
the trick.
