How to properly change the owner of a project

R

Robert

Hello,

I have got a client who is changing the owner of the project by going
to edit project properties from the project center. Although they
change the owner here it doesn't appear that it is actually
transferring ownership. This is project server 2007 by the way. How
would one accomplish this properly? Thanks.

In addition to changing the Owner of the project, I believe the new PM must
also specify himself/herself as the Manager of the project. To do this,
he/she needs to open the project in question and then temporarily insert the
Status Manager field in the Gantt Chart view. He/she must set
himself/herself as the Status Manager for each task in the project and then
republish the project. Unfortunately, a bug in the system prevents the new
PM from using the "fill handle" or using Edit - File - Down to populate the
fields quickly. Therefore, the best way is to use copy and paste, which is
slower, but faster than selecting a value in each cell. Hope this helps.

What an utter pain in the butt. Thanks Dale.

I think your assessment is pretty fair. It's issues like this that makes me
think Project Server 2007 is "not ready for prime time" yet. Hope this
helps.

Does this method hold for Project Server 2003?
