how to put rectangle in the center of a table cell?

This is rephrase of my previous post. I cannot seem to put rectangle just in
the center of a cell. the cell is formatted so the text is vertically
centered in it. When I put the rectangle onto the cell, the text is
displayed above the rectangle just as if the cell text vertical alignement
was set to top not to the centere.

This is a known issue. There is no known workaround.

Drag the anchor out of the cell and lock it somewhere else.
