How to re-enable PST usage in Outlook 2007

Christina C.

Let me give you some background:

1. Creating new PST's is prevented by Group Policy that I cannot edit
(although I'm in IT -- that comes down from our Corporate IT).

2. In Outlook 2003; although we couldn't create new PST's -- we've
been able to open ones we've had and use them.

3. New installations of Outlook 2007 from our server blocks the
ability to even open PSTs.

I have played and played with this and I know you can disable/enable
items from installing using these OPA files that an admin can alter.

I've tried different registry settings to see if I can enable PST
reading in Outlook 2007; but I've been unsuccessful.

Anyone have any ideas to help a few angry users of mine?

Thanks in advance.

It all depends on which policies have been set "above" you. You cannot
override them by your own policies unless you've got the right to block
inheritable group policies for the OUs that you are maintaining.

The only Group policy on our OU is to not create new PSTs. We could
open them in Outlook 2003; not in Outlook 2007.

I think you'll need to talk to your IT admin folk.
