how to re-install office 2003 professional after my computer crash

I have re-install my XP operating system and applications that were loaded on
the computer when I bought it with the exception of ms office 2003 student
teacher trial version. I tried re-installing the office 2003 professional
trial version then the full version like I did when I bought the compter back
in 2005. However, it is now asking for Microsoft Office 97, 2000 or XP
version which was never on my computer and the professional will not work.
How can I get it to work without having to put an earlier version on my
computer?

If it's asking for a prior version then you have an UPGRADE copy. A Trial
version cannot be used as the qualifying product for an Upgrade.
If it is an upgrade version then either you must have had a prior version,
or the vendor you bought your computer from was not very ethical, installed
your upgrade version using another CD as the qualifying product, which they
then kept or sold to someone else.
