how to read Adobe pdf files in Office?

Why do I have to save PDF files and then exit Microsoft Office and go to
Adobe Reader to access the file?

what version of office do you have and what do you expect it to do with the
files? Assuming you are in Outlook and they are attachments to messages,
what happens when you double click on the pdf?

You don't have to exit office - you can leave it open. Word can't read PDFs
so you will need to use acrobat or reader to open them.
