How to recover TwinBridge 4.5 Chinese Characters with Office 2007

Hi,

I got a serious problem with MSWord files with TwinBridge 4.5 (chinese
software)
Before, I was using TwinBridge 4.5 on windows 95 and created a lot of files
with this program.
But, now, I switched to a new computer (Windows 7 + Office 2007 Familial)
and I would like to use my past files. At the moment, I just see blocks.
For information, my past computer has just floppy disks (no CD Burner and no
USB).

15 years ago, there was no tool provided by Windows to write directly
Chinese Characters on MS Word. So, TwinBridge and other popular programs were
very helpful to write Chinese Characters.
There is no problem to open the MS Word file and read "Times New Roman" text
for example, but I guess that the problem is about the conversion of the
TwinBridge Fonts as "Chn JKaiTiB5 HY"

I don't know what to do. Any idea please ?

The obvious answer is to install the missing character font sets. As
TwinBridge is still active and selling the same utility (though now at v
6.5), I suggest that you go to them for support. If they are worth their
salt, they will know how to resolve your problem.

Dear Terry Farrell,

I already contacted the Support Team of TwinBridge but they didn't give
feedback. No TwinBridge software are available for Windows 7 at the moment.

The Encoding of TwinBridge Characters should be changed to use it in
Microsoft Office 07 and Windows7.

Here is a tutorial for Traditional Characters using VBA Macros
http://www.sino.uni-heidelberg.de/course_resources/s02/convert_macro.htm

But, my question is about simplified characters.

Best regards

Well there's not much you can do. It is pretty much down to TwinBridge to
sort out. Are they not able to offer any solution?

Even if you can open these files in WordPad, Open Office or other
Wordprocessor, they will not display correctly because the correct character
fonts - or a suitable substitute - are missing. Ask TwinBridge if there is a
character font available that you can install in Windows 7 and then set Word
to substitute.

To conclude, there is a reply from (e-mail address removed)

"TwinBridge 6.5 provides a Super Converter which converts a file at a time"
....
Unfortunetaly, lot of tools that I was looking for TwinBridge are now
available with windows 7.

"The old files are in ANSI format which is not compatible with today’s
Unicode format"

Thanks Terry for your time.
