How to reduce text to fit on 81/2x11

I am having trouble reducing work sheet in Microsoft Office to fit on an
81/2x11 page, not by reducing the font by by telling it to reduce by %.

Since you say "work sheet in Microsoft Office", you must be using Excel.
Click File, Page Setup, Page, Scaling "Fit to:"
