how to reinstall a preinstalled Office... no recovery disc

I

iris

I bought a new computer in March, had hardware probs last week and just got
machine back. Repair guy said seemed ok, but I might have to reinstall Vista.
Ok, did that, but now I see I also have to reinstall Office 2007, but since
it's the preinstalled version I have no disc. Is there any way to do this
myself:? My comp. repair guy is gone till next week...

So you mean, no, there's no way I can solve it myself? The guy I bought the
computer from is gone for a week...

No, it's an OEM and if you don't have the disks, you're stuck. I'm assuming
you bought it from a local guy and not one of the major manufacturers?

BTW - you need to get a copy of the disks.

Yes, that's right, a local computer guy who put it together and sold it to me
with preinstalled Word. Any idea how I can get a copy of the disks? The box
says, 'Backup disks are available for qualified purchases' but the link
doesn't work and I just get a generic support page.

Do you think I could download a trial version to get me through this next
week till my computer guy gets back?

1. If you simply did a Repair install of Windows, no -- a trial version
of Word will not repair a damaged OEM version of Word .
2. If you did a "Clean" install of Windows (e.g. format the hard disk and
install Windows fresh), then the Trial should install without incident.
NOTE: once you get your disks, *uninstall* the trial version before
attempting to install the OEM version.

You need to get in touch with your computer guy. Without him, you're going
to keep running into brick walls. Leave him a message - if he's a decent
business man, he's checking his messages.

Yes, I've emailed him. And installed a trial version in the meantime. Thanks

Make sure you dump that trial version before installing your paid versxion,
okay? If you don't you'll be back here with another mess.
