How to remove extra spaces when editing a "Reply" in Outlook

When I modify a message when in the "Reply" mode, Outlook 2003 adds extra
spaces before and after the modification. How do I get rid of those?

Are you using the method that inserts [your name] in your comments?
It's set in tools, options, preferences, email options - the entry may have
extra spaces in it.
