how to remove read only from a visio file so it can be edited?

Once a file has been saved as read only, can the read only be turned off in
Visio?

If you mean 'do you have to use Visio to turn off the file's read only
property', the answer is no. You can just right click the file, select
'Properties' and uncheck the read only checkbox.

If you mean 'can you change a file from read only to write access once
you've opened it in Visio' then the answer is no. You'll be able to make
changes, but you'll have to save it under a different file name.
