I am trying to draw pictures, for my geometry class, which label triangles
ABC and quadrilaterals ABCD, etc. When I insert a text box and type A in it
so that an A is close to the first vertex of a triangle in the AutoShapes
box, each text box has a solid border around it, and it clutters up my
geometry picture. I want to have empty borders around letters so that they
appear as they would on a chalkboard.

You can remove the border by opening Format Text Box and choosing No Line on
the Lines and Colors tab.
