How to remove the "+1" from phone numbers on Outlook busines card

I use Vista & Outlook 2007 (XPpro & 2003 too have same prob). In the
contacts, specifically the busines card for a contact, the "+1" is a waste of
space and should not be used unless it's a long distance call. I have
checked my Phone & Modem Options/Dialing Rules settings and in Houston, 10
digit dialing is required and enabled.

Wrong. The +1 is necessary and should not be removed. It is the only phone
number format that will invoke dialing rules, which are the only way to
ensure your number is dialed correctly.
