How to replace automatic dates with fixed dates

Does anyone have a macro they are willing to share that will replace all the
automatic dates in a Word document with either the current date or a date of
one's own choosing?

I can find the date fields and replace them manually, but I can't figure out
how to do this automatically throughout the document.

Because if you don't, you're in the wrong newsgroup.
