how to restrict the old number already entered

hi
i have entered a value in a column , if i again re-enter the same value
excel should warn me.

actually i have already sent the same query and i recd. ans for the
same,earlier it was working properly but now its not working plz can
you help me again.

Chip uses a Data Validation formula of:

=COUNTIF($A$1:$A$50,A1)=1

You'll need to adjust the formula for the range that you are dealing
with.
