How to retrieve data from a password protected website/ftp = HTTPS

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to retrieve files from such a
site? I have been able to retrieve files from a FTP site without any
problems. But from a webpage, I'm stumped. I have tried a software package
called HTTrack. But all of a sudden it stopped working.
