How to retrieve 'earlier' SAVED version of MSWord File

I just saved over a MS Word file that I need. I could see
the file as saved earlier with the 2 wild cards at the
beginning but it is now not visible. Is it still able to
be retrieved? I assume it is a temporary file now. Help,
please!
If you have an answer and could email it directly to

Hi David,

The file you are describing, ~$FileName, is a temp file called the
Owner file. It contains user information of the individual who opened
the file and is deleted when you close the file. It does not contain a
copy of your document.

Unfortunately if you saved over the file and answered the prompt "Are
you sure?" then that was your warning. Beth's rule #1 in Windows: If
are asked "Are you sure?" then you'd better be sure.
