How to retrieve groove data when HD fails

M

mr_peterson

I have a situation where no archive was created yet I need to recover some
workspaces (which are not shared. . . anywhere else). I am using XP Pro and
groove 3.1 and have fully backed up my HD's data except for data that resides
in C:\Program Files\. . .

I was under the impression that Groove (3.1) stores data on the user's
desktop.

As such I have reinstalled 3.1 and during the installation process, Groove
asks would I like to erase data or retrive data (from the machine). I choose
retrieve data. Groove goes through the installation then terminates with the
following error:
Component 'Dynamics' from 'groovedocument:///groovexss/c:%5cprogram%>20files%5cgroove%20networks%5cgroove%5cdata%>5cresources.xss/groovetelespacetemplate15.tpl' failed to initialize.
HRESULT: 0x80004005
Process: Groove.exe (ID: 2552 (0x000009f8))
Thread ID: 2060 (0x0000080c)
Date: April 16, 2007 5:41:14 PM CDT
As a result of the error:
The parameter is incorrect.

Given this information is it possible to recover the missing data?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mr Peterson -

From your description, it sounds to me like your spaces were damaged when
the drive died.

FWIW, I've got a few spaces with just me in them, but I run my Groove
account on two computers and always make sure those spaces are shared on both
computers.

Groove stores data under it's own install path x:\groove
networks\groove\data\accounts folder and if you back this up entirely it
should be possible to restore - however if you also installed groove for all
users there there is an additional folder there that has to be restored
before you try to install groove again.
