How to reverse Office's converting my Outlook Express to French

When I installed Office 2007, my Outlook Express spell checker converted from
English to French. Is there any way to reverse this action, so that I can
still use Outlook Express to write emails and check the spelling?

At present, I draft my emails in Word to check for spelling errors and then
copy & paste to a new email, but this is an unsatisfactory solution to the
problem.

Outlook Express never had its own spell checker. It uses Word's spell checker. You now have a new version of Word...and things are different:

Thank you for your information. I take it then that Microsoft is trying to
wean people from using Outlook Express to using Windows Live Mail, as
downloading that does not solve the problem at all - all it does is give an
alternative to use instead of Outlook Express.

Is that your understanding of the situation?

I do not work for Microsoft so I cannot speak to their motives. Webmail can be a free alternative.

Outlook Express cannot use the MS Word spell check in Office 2007.
Downloading a free spell check is the simplest way around this.

Use this and it will correct the problem:

Office 2007 broke the link to spell check in OE6.
