i opened a Powerpoint presentation as read only and added a number of new
pictures. When I try to load this to a disk, I get a message saying that this
is read only. How do I go about protecting the additions I've made to the
presentation and then saving it to disk?
Please help.
Thanks

Read Only means that you can't add to or edit the file. First you must remove
the Read Only attribute. Go to My Computer and locate the file on your hard
drive. Right click it and select Properties. Uncheck the box next to Read
Only. Click OK. Now open the file in PowerPoint and make changes.

As you can see, anyone can remove the Read Only attribute, so there's no much
sense in resetting it. If you burn the file to CD it will automatically be made
Read Only, but that's just because the CD itself cannot be written to.

If you want to protect a presentation, see:

I always save the file with a new name. Just in case I didn't really want
to lose the last version. ;-)
