how to set up a blog

I am using FrontPage 2003. I want to use it to creat a blog. What's next?
(Yes, I have my URL)

There are ways to do this with FrontPage (Google for - frontpage blog tool -
and see what you can find.

Your better bet would be to check with your web host and see if they provide
any blogging tools with your subscription. Generally good hosts will offer
tools such as the free WordPress, or other options.

Can't you just tell us how to do this in Frontpage? There is a "web log"
template" in FP 2003, but no direction at all how to instal the extensions
and make it work. And yes, my host does have frontpage and sharepoint
extensions installed. I have literally spent hours on the web - both with
google and with Microsoft Support - trying to figure out how to make it work.

To use the FP2003 Web Blog template you site must be hosted on a Windows 2003 server with Windows
SharePoint Services installed. WSS is not included with Windows 2003 server, so it must be
downloaded from MS and then installed.

Do you know about Blogger - http://www.blogger.com? It's completely free,
offers a whole blog setup with beautiful templates, all of it customizable,
but doesn't necessarily need to be customized at all. You can publish the
blog to *their* servers, or to your own. There's no scripting or coding
knowledge necessary; you just have to find your way around the site, which
isn't hard. It's pretty remarkable.

I'm not affiliated with it in any way - just discovered it recently and am
very impressed. It's owned by Google.

Yes Patty is right..Blogger is a very good choice. Depending upon what
hosting platform you are on, there's a number of good free scripts available
out there. For an .asp blog..this one is pretty good and also free:

I actually already have my blog on Blogger.com, but I'd like to do a couple
of things differently. First is to maintain and design my own site (Blogger
- you use their templates, which aren't bad, but not too easily customizable)
and I'd also like my blog to just be my own ".com" rather than
www.mysite.blogspot.com.

Lastly, the fact that it is owned by Google (or anyone but me) brings up
ownship issues.

I really appreciate this info - thanks. I have been a FP user for a long
time, and am really hoping they can incorporate blog templates and setup into
the next version.
