How to set-up a mac (apple) to Windows base network w/ethernet

My jog gave me an Apple Macintosh iBook to use but my home network is Windows
based and I can't configure the machine to co-operate so I can combine my
resources and documents.

This question would be better asked in with a networking newsgroup or even a
Mac newsgroup. It's not an Office issue.

"Office" in this newsgroup refers to the Microsoft Office Suite;
"Office" does not refer to the physical location of your computer hardware.
