How to show more than 2 daily appointments in monthly view

I like to use the monthly view in Outlook, but can only see two appointments
in each day - anything further is indicated by the grey arrow. I would like
to be able to see ALL the appointments at a glance, without having to click
on the grey arrow. Can anyone help? I know it's possible, because bizarrely
it sometimes converts to that view, but I don't know what sequence of events
triggers the view I want, and it then has reverted when I next log on.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem:
