How to specify a user as a PM for a particular project?

Hi

How to specify a user to be a PM for a particular project?

Because one user can be a PM in one project and be a
member in another project, if I configure him as a member
of PM group, will he be able to act as a PM in every
project (as long as he is a member of those projects)?
When using project2002, how do we know which user is the
PM of a project?

Thanks in advance

It sounds like you have an individual who is normally a team member on most
projects, but is also serving as the project manager for one particular
project. To correctly set up this individual's permissions in the Project
Server environment, do the following:

1. Log into PWA with Administrator permissions
2. Click the Admin menu
3. Click the Manage Users and Groups link
4. Select the individual in question, then click the Modify User button
5. Make sure this person is included in both the Project Managers and Team
Members groups
6. Click the Save Changes button

The individual who is normally a team member, but is a project manager for
one project, should now open that project and publish it (Collaborate -
Publish - All Information). If the project has already been published by
someone else, he/she will need to take over as the project manager for the
project by republishing the project (Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments).

In your environment, do you want each project manager to be able to open
only his/her own projects and not anyone else's projects? If this is the
case, complete the following steps:

1. Log into PWA with Administrator permissions
2. Click the Admin menu
3. Click the Manage Security link
4. Select the "My Projects" category and then click the Modify Category
button
5. In the "Projects" section, select the "Only the projects indicated
below" option
6. Select the "Allow users in this category to view all projects they
manage"
7. All other options in the "Projects" section should remain unchecked
8. Click the Save Changes button

Hope this helps.
