How to start the Groove Account Configuration Wizard

F

Frank Spuls

I have installed Groove 2007 on my computer with an account that is not
active anymore. I simply want to create a new account but everytime I start
Groove he only presents me login window, so presenting me the old account
and asking for a password. Even when I de-install Groove and re-install it,
he is presenting me the same loginbox. Can somebody tell me how I can reset
Groove in such a way that the Groove Account Configuration Wizard is
appearing again so asking whether I want to creat a new Groove account or
use an existing account.

Best regards,

Frank

Hi Frank,

What you need to do is use GrooveClean.exe -all
The procedure is like this.
Exit Groove completely (rightclick the systray icon and click "Exit")
- Make sure there are no Groove processes running (check for GROOVE.EXE
and GrooveMonitor.exe in
the processes tab of Task Manager)
- Open a commandprompt and go to C:\Program Files\MicrosoftOffice\Office12
- type: grooveclean.exe -all
- startup Groove and reconfigure your account

this will work for you

see ya,

I have the same problem, and grooveclean.exe doesn't help. When I start
Groove all I get is a logon screen, no forgot password link, and no way to
restart without logging in.

right - actually I tried it with and without the -all switch to see if that
made a difference. I also deleted the account file that is caused the
problem in the first place, but that doesn't matter.

Did you use the -all switch with Grooveclean.exe

Hope I'm not hijacking the post, but I have a similar issue, where I've used
GrooveClean.exe - all and when I restart Groove I still have the password
prompt. and haven't been able to get past what now appears to be an
unrecoverable password after 29 attempts.

I had just set Groove up on this PC, so I won't be loosing anything by
deleting everything.

Thanks,

OK, not sure if this will helpl, but I also opened up the Groove directory
under my profile (following the command line map) and deleted all of the
additional files from the date I created my profile and Groove opened right
up with the new account creation dialog.

makes perfect sense, but I don't see anything there. I am using Vista, and
looking in

\users\admin\

I would expect to see something like a Microsoft Office directory, but there
is nothing...

same thing at start-up - password...

Under Vista You can find it here

C:\Users\"USERNAME"\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\Groove

The strange thing is that Grooveclean -all should do the same thing as
deleting it manual

See ya

Jeroen.
