How to stop Entourage from popping up with every new email

I'll be plugging away at a spreadsheet or writing a document when an email rolls in. That's great, but Entourage takes the liberty to move me from what I was working on right to my inbox & that new email. VERY ANNOYING when that happens every 2-3 minutes. Short of quitting Entourage, is there any setting or anything I can do in order to disable the auto jump to Entourage?

That doesn't happen normally.

It sounds like you have a rule that triggers an AppleScript, and that
AppleScript is sending the "activate" command to Entourage, which is bad
coding for such a script.

in the entourage prefs, under the notifications tab, there is an option
to bring the application to the front when mail is rec'd. Uncheck that
and all should be well.

Thanks for the quick response JR.

I checked my scripts in Entourage & nothing like that exists. Is there someplace else I should be looking for this 'rule'? Any suggestions (specifics) I can test for such a rule?

Can't thank you enough Barry - you've saved me from insanity!!!

Thanks for pointing out that tab. I thought I scoured every option but seems I overlooked the most obvious.

Very much appreciate the solution on the same day it was posted.

Best Regards,
JD
