How to stop the "Getting Started" Task pane from opening on program initiation

Hi,

How do I stop the Getting Started Task Pane from starting when I open
up Word 2003 SP1??

I've unchecked that item in the Options menus, unchecked it in the
"Customize" menu on the task pane itself, but it continues to startup
when I start Word. ????

Granted it's only one click to close it but it's annoying..

any help welcome,

thanks,

Hi Niteowl,

Is the box in Tools=>Options rechecked when you next start Word?
If you're not in a corporate environment or on a restricted user
level then it may be a 3rd party add-in to Word that is interfering.

If you hold down the ctrl key when starting Word after
turning off that setting does the task pane still appear?
