How to stopPowerpoint recentering view during object edit?

I'm using large freeform shapes to add colour fill to diagrams. When the
object is partly offscreen, e.g. when zoomed in to edit points more
precisely, Powerpoint 2007 keeps recentering the view to the centre of the
object. Often as not this moves the area being edited offscreen! How can I
turn this "helpful" feature off?! Never used to happen with Office xp Pro.

I installed this hotfix (and, yes, restarted my computer), but ppt is still behaving the same way. Is there something else I need to do to have this option take effect?

Not that I'm aware. This is why hotfixes are hotfixes and not service packs.
They aren't widely tested yet, so the fixes don't always work.

Nuts. I'm disappointed that it didn't work for you, though.
