How to turn off adaptive toolbars in Office

A

Adrielle

In all Office products the buttons on your toolbars change position, in
order to place the most frequently used buttons on the leftmost
positions of the toolbars. I have difficulty finding the buttons,
particularly when they are constantly being moved to non-visible parts
of the toolbar.

I have found information which claims to fix this:

To disable Words Adaptive Menus and Toolbars
Tools >Customize >Options then place a check next to
X Show Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows and
X Show full menus

This does stop the adaptive menus, which really annoyed me. And buttons
do stay put, not moving back and forth -- but only if you give each
toolbar its own row. If I give every toolbar its own row I can't see my
document!

Anybody else have any ideas?

Thank you
