How to turn OFF automatic noticing of appointments?

Everytime I add an appointment the checkbox is checked; "notice me 15
min before appointment" (or something like that - I have another
language of Outlook).

Is it possible to turn this option off as default?

In OL2003 and possibly earlier: Tools menu > Options. Right on the
Preferences tab there's a setting for default Reminders. Uncheck it.
