Just type two I's (capital i's). Obviously, in some fonts (especially script
fonts), this doesn't work very well. I've wrestled with this. Sometimes you
can get away with using 1s, but what I generally end up doing is
substituting another font (such as Times New Roman) that gives the correct
appearance.
