how to uninstall. ms access runtime

R

Rob

When I try to uninstall I can't because the original installation file was
deleted (I installed from a folder on my desktop). When I unzip the runtime
version to my desktop it work saying its not a valid installation package,
try to find the install package bac_fe_2.msi from a folder which you can
install. Is there a way I can remove the runtime without having the original
install
file? It doesn't seem right to require the original install file to
uninstal. I don't think many people save install files after a few months.

Hi, Rob.
It doesn't seem right to require the original install file to
uninstal.

Although it's not required, many developers add an uninstall script to their
installation package. Yours did. If you didn't save the installation file,
then you needed to save the uninstall script.
I don't think many people save install files after a few months.

They may not save them on their hard drives forever, but experienced
computer users always back up important files, just in case something goes
wrong. What if your computer crashed or it was infected with a virus and
you had to reformat the hard drive to get rid of the virus? How were you
planning to reinstall the Access Runtime if you ever needed to without the
file you deleted?
Is there a way I can remove the runtime without having the original
install
file?

Either reinstall the installation file from your backup or return to the
developer who gave you the first copy and ask him to send you another copy
because you deleted the first one. Tell him you are getting an error
message when you unzip the file, and be prepared to tell him more
information when he asks, because he undoubtedly will.

HTH.
