How to Unistall Office, if the message I get is ...

I try to unistall Office, because there is something seriously wrong with
Excel (I need to reinstall later). I cannot just intall it from the disk,
because the message I get is :

This patch package could not be open. verify that the patch package exists
and that you can access it, or contact application vendor to verify that this
is a valid Windows Installer patch package

I also get the similar message when I try to unistall Office altogether from
the Contol Panel..I thought I should unistall the old Office maybe first, and
only then re-install everything, but... What should I do ? Can anybody help
with ideas ? Thanks !
