How to update Office 2000 to SR-1

There are many messages on this in this forum.
Much of the information provided is accurate but not particulary helpful.

Microsoft has not made this easy as they don't want you to do this anymore.
Since Office 2000 is no longer supported, they have purposely disabled this.

OK.... a workable solution:

SR-1, originally, could be updated one of two ways:

1) A small install file: o2ksr1a.exe
This then downloaded the rest of the update files from the MS server.
This small file will still install, but the download no longer works; these
files have been removed, or, disabled by MS

2) The full install file: O2ksr1adl.exe
There are links to this on MS sites, but the file has been removed.
MS no longer provides it.

It can be found online by doing a google search for "O2ksr1adl.exe download"
, but it will be provided by non-official looking sources.
This one is the one I, and others, have used and works (the first link is in
English):

There are others, but some have been removed.

All other updates after SR-1 can, as of now, be found here:

I hope this is helpful to those of us that still want to use Office 2000.

I recently had a hard disk failure and had to reinstall everything. In the
process of attempting to restore my Office2000 to its previous state (SR3) I
found that none of the updates I'd previously used to update my MSOFFICE
setup would install.

Why would this be?

Possibly because your initial SR-1 update is the short file, as described
above, which no longer works. If you follow the steps I've listed, you should
be good.
