How to use Entourage with Yahoo Discussion Groups

I subscribe to a few Yahoo discussion groups and you can post or reply
using a web based text editor or by email. I have tried using Entourage
2004 v11.36 and my text wrap looks terrible when displayed by Yahoo. I
have ask what I am doing wrong and 'they say' my mail program is
wrapping the text at 72 characters?

My "Mail and News Preferences" for compose is set to "Plain Text."

Any other settings need to send plain text?

I would like to know how other Entourage users post messages to Yahoo
discussion groups?

Hi aRKay,

Entourage automatically breaks lines in plain text messages at 72
characters; there's nothing you can do about it. Other mail clients, such as
Apple Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird, support format=flowed, a technology that
does not insert hard returns in messages and thus allows them to be
displayed as flowing, unbroken text.

If you were to use HTML messages in Entourage, this line wrapping would not
be a problem; HOWEVER, HTML messages are usually frowned upon, especially in
discussion groups, so I would strongly discourage you from doing that.

Summary: Entourage automatically wraps lines at 72 characters in plain text
messages; if you find this really annoying, you will need to use a different
mail client to access your discussion groups.

Michel,

Thanks for the prompt response. Guess I will have to go back to Apple
Mail client for sending messages via Yahoo Groups.

I don't understand why MS designed the program to break lines at 72
character for plain text and not even give users an option to ditch the
auto line break.

Anyone know if this design defect has been fixed in the 2008 Entourage?
As far as I am concerned this will be a show stopper on paying for an
upgrade.

It's not that simple, actually, since it concerns the text engine at the
core of Entourage. Here's a link to an interesting website which gives you a
lot of information on this topic:

I'm afraid you'll have to wait till Entourage 2008 is out before anyone can
answer that question.

Thanks again..... I enjoyed reading the link formatting.

BTW, I posted a test message to one of the Yahoo Groups using the
Entourage formatted text. The only formatting I did was to use a hard
RETURN at the end of each line and it worked. The only error was I used
a Quote mark that Yahoo could not understand.
